Understanding Triggers

Triggers are events that automatically send notifications to members. You control:

  • Which events trigger notifications
  • Which channels are used (Email, SMS, Push)
  • The timing of notifications (immediate, scheduled)

Giving Notifications

2
Configure Giving Triggers

Set up notifications related to donations:

  • Donation Receipt: Sent immediately after a donation (Email recommended)
  • Recurring Gift Reminder: Sent before recurring gifts process
  • Recurring Gift Processed: Confirmation after successful recurring charge
  • Failed Payment: Alert when a payment fails
  • Statement Available: Annual giving statement ready for download

Event Notifications

3
Configure Event Triggers

Set up notifications for church events:

  • Event Created: New event announcement (optional)
  • RSVP Confirmation: Confirm member's RSVP
  • Event Reminder (1 week): Advance notice
  • Event Reminder (1 day): Day-before reminder
  • Event Reminder (1 hour): Just before the event
  • Event Changed: Updates to time, location, or details
  • Event Cancelled: Cancellation notice
Tip: For regular services, you may not need reminders. Save notifications for special events where attendance confirmation matters.

Duty Notifications

4
Configure Duty Triggers

Set up notifications for volunteer duties:

  • Duty Assigned: When someone is scheduled for a duty
  • Duty Reminder (1 week): Week-ahead notice
  • Duty Reminder (1 day): Day-before reminder
  • Swap Request: When someone requests a duty swap
  • Swap Approved: Confirmation when swap is accepted
Important: Duty reminders are crucial for volunteer reliability. We recommend enabling at least the 1-day reminder for all duties.

Member Notifications

5
Configure Member Triggers

Set up notifications for member-related events:

  • Welcome Message: Sent to new members who join
  • Birthday Greeting: Automated birthday wishes
  • Anniversary Greeting: Membership anniversary
  • Group Invitation: Invitations to join groups
  • Prayer Request: New prayer requests in their groups

Notification Frequency

Avoid notification fatigue by setting appropriate frequency:

6
Set Digest Options

For high-volume notifications, enable digest mode to bundle multiple notifications into a single daily or weekly email.

Best Practices

  • Use SMS sparingly for time-sensitive alerts only
  • Email works best for detailed information and receipts
  • Push notifications are great for engagement but can be muted
  • Always send giving receipts immediately
  • Test notifications yourself before enabling for all members
